Sterile Substrate for Mushroom Cultivation

It is intended for the most demanding mushroom growers, who are familiar with sterile technique and want to cultivate specific mushroom species. The substrate has to be inoculated with fungal cultures, most often obtained from mushroom spores.

The substrate is composed of cereal grains with optimum moisture content, sterilized by high temperature and pressure. It comes in bags or glass jars into which the culture or spores of a selected mushroom have to be introduced under aseptic conditions. The inoculated substrate has to be then incubated so the fungal mycelium completely colonizes the grains, which are used to prepare final substrate for growing mushrooms. However, some mushroom species can grow directly from the grains, so the preparation of the final substrate is not required.
